What is the process of ordering a Wedding Cake?

I will then send you an email with my brochure and an invite to book a discovery call with me, to make sure we are the perfect fit.

Secure your date with a £200 deposit.  Then the fun begins with a ‘Cake Date’ aka cake consultation, where we will eat cake, drink tea/coffee, chat and get to know each other and design your wedding cake. 

 

How much does a wedding cake cost?

 

The million dollar question ~ All of my cakes are bespoke and therefore the final price will be based on size, complexity and overall design.

However, request my brochure for some examples.

As a guide 3 tiers start from £600, however most people tend to budget between £700 - £850, sometimes as much as £1500 - £2000

 

What is the size of each wedding cake slice / how big will each wedding cake slice be?

 

Wedding cakes are generally served 1”x1” especially if you're having other desserts. If your wedding cake is going to be your main dessert then each portion would be cut 1”x2”

 

Can I have a different flavour in each tier?

 

Yes you can have a variety of different cake flavours and filling.  Do check out flavours menu on my website

 

Can I taste your cakes?

 

Definitely and this will all be part of the ‘cake date’ aka wedding cake consultation.

 

What should I bring to my Consultation?

 

Bring your inspiration such as décor, colour swatches, invitations, floral ideas and any other design element. I always find social media is a superb source of inspiration, especially pinterest!  Save images of things you like, textures you like, florals, dresses etc., anything but cake images.  That way I can create a truly bespoke cake for you that will be influenced by all things you like other than someone else’s cake creation.

 

Do you charge for cake samples?

 

Yes.  Making cake samples and enjoying a ‘cake date’ all takes a long time to prepare, baking, planning, finding out information about you and your partner, which is why I charge for my time.  Samples start from £30 and Cake dates start from £50 both subject to number & complexity of cake flavours.

 

Will you deliver?

 

Yes, delivery & setup are included and we deliver mainly around the midlands. I can deliver around leicestershire and surrounding areas, midlands and London. Or anywhere else in the world you may be tying the knot.

 

Cake Stand & Hire

 

Some Wedding venues have their own cake stand & knife but they may not suit the style of your wedding cake. I have a range of cake stands that can be hired, a refundable deposit will be required as a security deposit and returned to you once the cake stand & knife are returned in their original condition within 3 days of your wedding. 

 

Do you offer edible wedding favours?

 

Yes lots of little sweet treats from macarons, iced cookies, chocolate gems, cakesicles & cupcakes, all can be individually wrapped to create the perfect favour. Some are outsourced.

 

Would I have fresh, dried or sugar flowers on my wedding cake?"

 

The choice is totally yours and will be discussed at the design stage. Fresh flowers look beautiful on wedding cakes! Silk flowers are becoming increasingly popular as they will tie in well with your floral arrangements elsewhere around your venue. Sugar flowers are a work of art and a fabulous keepsake after the wedding.  Sugar flowers are hand crafted and take many hours to create, which would be reflected in the price.

The most important things to remember here are:

• Do not use any toxic flowers on your wedding cake

• Do not use any overly scented flowers on your wedding cake

• Do not use any flowers with pollen stamens that might drop onto the cake

• Make sure the flowers are added to the cake in the correct food safe manner.  This is why it is usually better for your cake maker to arrange the flowers on the cake as they have the food safety knowledge and training

 

What if I want a grand, luxury 10 tier wedding cake but my guest numbers are really small?

 

Your cake can consist of a combination of real cake and dummy tiers but please bear in mind that the majority of work and time involved is in the decoration.  Dummy tiers can end up in landfills and can take up to 200 years to biodegrade, effecting our earth.  Just something to bear in mind.

 

How many hours does a wedding cake take?

 

Wedding cakes can take anywhere from 20 hours upwards depending on the complexity and intricacy of your wedding cake design.
